WGC-HSBC Champions
From 2005 to 2009, Sheshan Golf Club hosted the original HSBC Champions, which was then an international co-sanctioned event including the European Tour, Asian Tour, Australasian Tour and Sunshine Tour. Due to its initial success, the tournament was elevated to a World Golf Championship event in 2009. This rare title raised the level of competition and attracted some of the best players in the world to participate, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and two-time champion, Phil Mickelson.

From 2009-2011, Sheshan continued to host the tournament before a 1 year hiatus. In 2013, the WGC-HSBC Champions returned to Shanghai and to Sheshan, its original home. With an elevated US $8.5 million prize purse, this event was the biggest Asian golf event in history and one of the biggest tournaments in the world. In addition, it was the first time this event counted for official US PGA Tour status, statistics, money list, and FedEx Cup points.
Starting 2018, the tournament will see a prize purse of US $10 million, further elevating its status and grandeur of a World Class golf event.

With official Fed Ex Cup points on the US PGA Tour, Race to Dubai points on the European Tour, and one of the biggest prize purses in the world, we are once again looking forward to hosting the best players in the game of golf.
